Course Description
This course provides students with a strong foundation in the design process for residential kitchen design from conceptual drawings to design development and construction documents. Topics studied include the fundamentals of residential, aging-in place, and commercial kitchen design, including the layout, space and use adjacencies, applicable life safety codes, accessible design, fixture, finish and equipment specifications, cabinetry design and function, artificial and natural daylight, sustainable design, the impact of color and pattern, and finish and fixture specification.
